happiness is waking up each morning (hopefully) smelling the fresh air, flowers, fresh coffee brewing, eggs with grilled onions cooking on the stove with the smells permeating upstairs.

As my friend Debby always says "we're only as happy as our saddest child." So again, happiness is all our children are happy as well!

Happiness to me is waking up on a Sunday morning and seeing the sun shining and reflecting on the water outside my condo. I sit down with my dog, (an unconditional loving male), Kennedy, on my couch and read the Sunday Times cover to cover while drinking a cup of coffee. I often doze halfway through and wake up to read the rest. That to me is my weekend happiness.

Happiness is having people in your life who call you to be bigger than you think you can be. Happiness is cooking for friends. Happiness is when your college age children want to spend time with you. Happiness is making a difference for others. Happiness is working through something that is troubling and coming out with a new insight and the space to create something new/fresh. Happiness is being successful as well as watching/sharing another’s accomplishments. Happiness is being healthy. Happiness is a good workout. Happiness is a good haircut. Happiness is being loved. Happiness is a choice.

Happiness is hearing my three boyz and honey laughing in our family room watching a silly boy show while I am cooking a wonderful meal for them.

Having wine and dinner in the North End with my girls friends.

Watching any child being silly with no worries at all.

Having a sleep over with just my girlfriends was one of my happiest moments ever. We had a blast right in our home. Swimming, roasting marshmallows, dancing and just acting like girlfriends.

Happiness is still looking forward to my man coming home every night he is such a joy in my life. Silly Billy!!! 11 years and rocking baby.

I am so happy our house is the house that our teenagers and friends hang at. I love to cook for them I am known as Miss Debbie at our home. The kids are just so respectful and that makes me so so happy.....

This may sound like a cliche but I believe it: Happiness is loving and being loved in return.

Happiness is hearing your child giggle.

Happiness is looking at your life and appreciating your judgement for surrounding yourself with supportive, loving friends and family.

Happiness is a walk in the woods with my wife, daughters and dogs during a magnificent New England autumn.

Happiness is David Ortiz at the plate and Mariano Rivera on the mound.

Happiness is UMASS playing for national championships in football and lacross and getting it's basketball program back on track.

Happiness is 8 dogs and a frosted mug of Killians at Teo's in Pittsfield.
