This one was an easy prediction. Dirk had the best regular season of ANY NBA player. He should have won and did - congratulations to the voters who truly got it right this time.

Dirk - lets add some team trophies to your collection next year!

Hello Merrill and good topics!

If you base your criteria for MVP on the guy who is 'most valuable to his team', then I believe that yes Steve Nash should 3 peat. Yes, an argument can be made that Dirk is also very worthy based on his day in and day out mental toughness and ability to sink a shot from anywhere on the court. It seems most of the time an MVP is awarded to a guy whose team wins it all. Only in rare cases does that not happen. I think of A-Rod in 2003 and Steve Carlton in 1972 for the last place Phils.

I predict Dirk gets the nod but his best friend off the court Steve is equally worthy for a shot at a 3 peat.

Peace Merrill!

I'm worried you might be right about Nash winning the MVP. Although a very good player, I can't believe that those that vote will elevate him to the level of those great players. Of course, I would have said there was no chance for him to win 2 years in a row. I do find it somewhat ironic that the Mavs are a better team because they don't have the 2-time MVP on their team any longer.
