Is Three Really a Crowd?

They say that things happen in threes! In the card game "gin" you can have three of a kind. When you think of three of something, what comes to mind?

When I did this, I thought of five things very quickly:

  • The Three Stooges

  • The Three Musketeers

  • Gary, Andrew and myself (two of my best friends growing up)

  • Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parrish – the big three for the Boston Celtics

  • The band Peter, Paul & Mary

What do you think of?

I look forward to hearing your comments.

The Triplets from the University of Arkansas Final Four basketball team in 1978. Ron Brewer, Sidney Moncrief, and Marvin Delph. Ron Brewer and Sidney Moncrief were first team All Americans and first round NBA draft picks who played over 10 years each in the NBA. Marvin Delph skipped the NBA because he wanted to play on the 1980 US Olympic Basketball Team, which did not go to the Olympics because of Jimmy Carter’s boycott. All three players were 6′4″ and could shoot and jump out of the gym. They were named the “the triplets” by Al McGuire of Marquette. The triplets were Eddie Sutton’s first recruits at the University of Arkansas and made them a national power.

    Will,

I never heard of Marvin Delph. When I think of the triplets I think of the Cowboys trio.

I love Al McGuire - he is the best!
