I love this post. When folks as me how I find such success in my business (I sell residential real estate and manage to sell 98% of my properties instead of the Metroplex standard of 60%), I have a simple answer.
I work my a** off ... and I follow advice like your's.

I would add "have a mentor or coach". Being able to have access to someone who has more experience and knowledge than you is so important. Both Tiger Woods and Roger Federer use coaches to stay on top of their games, why not you?

For the past 24 years, I have been fortunate to have a wonderful mentor and coach, who has freely given me advice for my personal and professional life. He is a self-made, extremely successful, business man, who is not in the marketing research profession, so I get unfiltered, insightful and honest advice. Priceless.

On the subject Google, if anyone is as addicted to Google as Mr. Dubrow, I have to put in a plug for Dave Gorman's wonderful book/performance piece "Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure"

This is the best and funniest piece that illustrates just how powerful and creative the use of Google can be.

All really good pieces of advice. I'd put them under the meta mantra of "Never Stop Learning".

Many people think their educations are done after their formal schooling ends. I'd argue that's the point when their real, lifelong educations should actually begin.
