I must admit, I love the movie “The Bucket List”. I really enjoyed the story line, the characters and the different emotions I experienced during the movie.
Today, it is time to share one item on your bucket list.
I will go first. Anyone who is close to me knows I love animals. Because of that and a hundred other reasons, I would love to go on an African Safari. I would love to be outside experiencing the environment and the natural habitats of animals… from the tallest giraffe to the fastest jaguar to a very ugly hippo! I want to see it all!
Ok, your turn!
Please share with us one item on your bucket list!
Also as a bonus, please share one item on your bucket list that you have already done.
I look forward to reading your comments.

I started volunteering at the national parks, so that one is crossed of the list. Also seeing the northern lights and polar bears. So next is (like others on this list) Australia & New Zealand. (BTW Merrill, my two favorite lines from the movie are “Never trust a ____” and “Never waste a ______”

Hi Merrill!
You can imagine that this is my favorite things to think about and I am constantly updating this list every time that I go somewhere new as well as when learn about a new place.
I know that you said to pick one thing but my current list consists of:
** Take a balloon ride over the Serengeti,
** Hike to Machu Picchu, up Mt Kilimanjaro and around Banff National Park and Yellowstone National Park,
** Visit Marrakesh, Bora Bora & Fiji, The Galapagos Islands, Ngorongoro Crater , Jerusalem and Easter Island
** Go on an Antarctic Cruise
** See and photograph polar bears in the Arctic
** See Petra, Potala Palace, Niagara Falls, Versailles, Mont St Michel, Amalfi Coast, Rio, The Sahara Desert, Angel Falls and Pismo Beach, CA (Beautiful sand dunes)
So many places….so little vacation time!
Have a great Thanksgiving.

Merrill, if you want to find the time to go on a photo safari in Africa go in November. It is their spring time and you will also get to see many baby wild animals. We spent three weeks in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia – we did 3 photo safari shoots and would put it on my bucket list to do it again. Also a trip to the Amalfi Coast and touring London – want to go to some castles. I’m going to tour some of the New England coastline next Summer – another thing to cross off my list. Looking forward to about three weeks of vacation for this trip with my Mother and my sister.

Ed Sugar and I have shared a Bucket List item for about 5 years: to see an Old Firm Game (Glasgow Rangers vs. Glasgow Celtic, arguably the most heated rivalry in professional sports) at Ibrox Park in Glasgow. Various circumstances have kept us from accomplishing this, but we will get it done before we die!
Dr Tom says:
Merrill,
As you might know, I lived in the Kenyan bush with hunters and gatherers for two years. If you go on an East African safari (which just means “trip” in ki-Swahili), go during the migration seasons (twice a year). There is no way to describe staying in one spot all day and watching thousands and thousands and thousands of animals pass you.
When you begin to plan your trip, let’s talk and I can recommend some parks to visit in order for you to see different animals in their unique environments.
I also can suggest some ways for you to experience the people, not just the waiters and drivers, but actually meet and spend time with Africans, who are a wonderful people.
Wishing you and your family a great Thanksgiving,
Dr Tom
