Time to grab a flight – is it me or is it just not as much fun as it used to be?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2015

Many years ago I looked forward to flying. I loved the new experiences – perhaps a city, restaurant, stadium I have never been to before. I couldn’t wait to get there. For every vacation I would leave Friday right after work returning the last flight on the following Sunday always turning a week vacation into basically 9 days. Speed up to years later, it just isn’t the same. Flying isn’t as much fun! It could be because I am getting older, less patient, or not happy with constant airline delays.

Whatever the reason or reasons – it just isn’t as much fun. I don’t avoid flights, if I have to be somewhere I will go but probably not stay as long as I used too. Years ago I would chat to the person sitting next to me. I don’t really do that anymore, I choose to listen to music and kind of wonder into my own little world hoping the flight doesn’t have too much turbulence and no one is kicking my chair the entire time!

What about you?

  • Is flying fun these days?
  • How do you occupy yourself during the many delays?
  • What bothers you the most about flying?

I look forward to reading your comments.

Time to switch lines – ugh I always pick the wrong one!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015

Let me know if this sounds familiar, you are in a retail or grocery store and you are headed for the checkout counter. There are 12 different choices some have long lines, short lines, and of course, the 10 items or less line.

As you survey the situation you notice you have 2 items in your basket and rather than standing in the express line you try and pick the line that will go the quickest! I am sure many of you are saying yes so far I can relate! For me, no matter what line I pick it seems to be the slowest for a wide range of reasons. Perhaps the cashier is slow or the customer needs to dispute an item that is priced incorrectly or forgets something and now has to go back to shop. Because I think I am really smart I then begin to get antsy and switch lines, every time making the wrong move!

  • Do you do the same thing?
  • Does everyone switch lines?
  • Do you think men switch lines more that women?
  • Do you make your choice and stay in that line no matter what?

I look forward to reading your comments.

Time for Jury Duty….I didn’t get picked….did you?

Monday, December 21st, 2015

Last week I was selected to appear at the Ft. Worth Court House to see if I was going to get chosen for jury duty. I must admit, part of me was excited about the process while part of me was thinking the timing wasn’t the greatest. There were a number of things that happened that I found interesting like why I was chosen to bypass the jury pool? I was able to go directly to a case and then see if I was going to be picked. I was also curious as to why I was selected juror number 1 out of 22? Was it base on the online questionnaire I filled out, was it by luck? Totally random? Profiling? Not exactly sure!

At end of the day after 3 ½ hours I wasn’t chosen and was released.

During the time I was there and was speaking to a few folks who were also there, we discussed who would be chosen. Without question I said both of them would be as well as the gentleman to our left who was dressed nice and had a beautiful scarf on. I was so confident in my 3 choices that I went even further and said one of them was going to be the foreman.

I must admit the process did fascinate me. The jokes and stories the clerk magistrate and Judge said were probably done for the thousandth time. I didn’t care, because it was the first time I had ever heard them.

  • I wasn’t chosen were you?
  • Do you have a funny story you can share?
  • Did you enjoy the process?

I look forward to reading your comments.

P.S. I was right on the three people out of six that I thought would be included in the jury. Interesting that I was three for three on my choices. Not sure who was the foreman.

How cool are you if you have a one-word name?

Wednesday, December 16th, 2015

Cher, Sting, Madonna & Sinbad all have one thing in common…They only go by one name! How cool would that be? Do you think there is a certain code to having only one name?

Do you have to be really famous, really rich, or have a huge ego to have only one name? Could I have people calling me one name…? Let me take that back since I am sure there are plenty of people who only need one word to call me! What if I asked everyone to call me Boston? Dubes? Not sure that has the same impact or meaning as Cher and Sting!

  • What do you think about people/stars that only have one name?
  • Are you a fan?
  • What is your favorite one word name?
  • If you only had one word to your name what would it be?

I look forward to reading your comments.

P.S. I’m just curious do you know Madonna’s and Sting’s real name?

Time to save some money…what do you do?

Monday, December 14th, 2015

The holiday season is upon us and I am sure most everyone spent more money this month or last on gifts, decorations, or food than you normally do. The question is with 2016 right around the corner and you would like to save some additional money for that rainy day?

What do you do?

  • Do you go out to eat a little bit less?
  • Set a limit for credit card spending?
  • Try and put another X amount of dollars in the bank every few weeks?
  • Break out the piggy bank and roll all the coins that are in it?
  • Use American Express and travel awards more now?

I look forward to reading your comments.

Time to name the rest of the days of the week.

Monday, December 7th, 2015

When I think of the days of the week we have Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Wednesday is hump day, and Sunday is a day of rest. Isn’t it time we name Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday?

  • What is wrong with those three days?
  • What did they ever do wrong?
  • Don’t they deserve a nickname as well?

I say they do! Are you ready to stand up with me and name the other three days?

Let’s do it!

  • With that said, does anyone have any ideas on what we should name Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday??

I look forward to reading your comments.
