The Buffalo Bills win again, the NY Jets lose their 3rd game in a row while the Philadelphia “DREAM TEAM” Eagles lose their 4th game in a row and Jason Miller was in 1st place with two games to go. Sorry Jason you fell out of contention with a GB Packers victory last night. Clay is in 1st place with 11 wins and can win it outright with a Lions victory. If the Bears win he would be in a 4 way tie race with Sharon Gautschy, Steve Benson and fashionista. Good luck to all!!

What do the Detroit Lions and J.R. Venza have in common? All they do is win. The Lions are 4-0, congrads, and get this J.R. ran the table yesterday and went 15-0, yes 15-0! No one has ever done that in the pool and because of that tonight’s game has NO bearing on the outcome. J.R. takes the week and qualifies for the championship

Another amazing day in the NFL yesterday. The NE Patriots blow a 21 point lead and lose to the Buffalo Bills, the NY Jets Lose, the Philadelphia Eagles lose to the NY Giants. In case you were wondering I got all of those games wrong in fact the only person who got them ALL right out of the record 197 people who played this week was Mike Cronin. If Washington wins tonight he wins the pool. If not it will come down to a tie-breaker with Couldbstu.

The first person to qualify for the week 17 championship is Sam Picchiotti, a college student who beat 188 people to take the top prize in week 1!

Wow, what a day yesterday! Another week of football and another week with a record number of participants at 194! As of right now Susan Hayes and Bob Tekampe both only got 1 (yes I said 1) game wrong and have 14 wins. If the NY Giants win tonight it will come down to the points on a tie-breaker and if the St Louis Rams win then Scott Barrentine would be in the mix as well. Lots of questions to be answered in the weeks to come:

• Are the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions for real?
   
• Will Tony Romo be able to play at a high level with a fractured rib?
   
• Will the New England Patriots go undefeated?

Wow what a day yesterday! We started with the Baltimore Ravens pounding the Pittsburgh Steelers. We had the Detroit Lions, yes the Lions, start off on the right foot and solid wins by the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers. However the Dallas Cowboys on the brink of a victory said no thank you and handed the NY Jets the win! The first week is almost over. We have 2 games to go before we announce this week’s champion!

The strike is over and the season is right around the corner.  Last year we started a football pool and I am excited to say we are going to continue it for another year. Last year’s winner, Sarah Baird, will try and defend her title.

It is VERY easy to participate. Here are the rules:

• WE HAVE ADDED ONE IMPORTANT RULE – WE WILL BE KEEPING TRACK OF CUMULATIVE SCORE AND WILL BE AWARDING A SPOT IN THE FINAL WEEK TO THE TOP 2 PEOPLE WHO PICK THE MOST CORRECT GAMES RIGHT FOR THE FIRST 16 WEEKS. IF THOSE PEOPLE WIN A WEEK THEY WILL BE AWARDED ANOTHER SPOT IN THE FINALE.
• Every Monday (unless it is a holiday then it will be Friday or Tuesday) we will post a link to the weekly pool.
• All you need to do is click on who you think the winner will be.
• We are just picking winners. The point spread means NOTHING in this pool.
• Every week we will have a winner. The winner will be the person who has the most correct games.
• If there is a tie, the tiebreaker will be the total points of the Monday night game.
• If there is still a tie there will be multiple winners.
• All picks need to be in by Friday at 5:00 CST UNLESS there is a Thursday night game and then the picks need to be in by Thursday night by 5:00 CST.

The weekly prize will be a $50 American Express gift certificate. In addition, the person with the highest CUMULATIVE SCORE for the year will be awarded a $200.00 American Express gift certificate and the person who has the second highest cumulative score will be awarded a $100 American Express gift certificate. The tie-breaker (if needed) for the cumulative winners will be the total points for the Monday night game on week 16.

There is a bonus as well!

The pool will go on like this for 16 weeks. For week 17 only the winners of the prior 16 weeks and the 2 cumulative winners can participate for the grand prize which will be a $400 American Express gift certificate. If a person wins multiple weeks during the first 16 weeks they can have multiple entries in week 17.

I will be playing as well but CANNOT win the pool. I hope everyone will enjoy the football pool and I can’t wait to see who wins the first prize and has bragging rights until next year!
