Attention Researchers What Do You Think These Announcements Mean To The Research Industry?

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

In the past few weeks a number of announcements have come out that I thought were very interesting. Some if not all could impact the research industry.

Facebook announced A Beginner’s Guide to Facebook Insights

  • Is this an early indication that Facebook will eventually get into the research game?

  • When that happens will it be a good or bad thing for the industry?

Starbucks announced that you can pay with Your BlackBerry

  • Seems like Starbucks is getting even closer to their customers and research respondents.

  • How long before every retailer adds this as an application and adds customer satisfaction as well?

  • Is this a good or bad thing for our industry?

Skype Introduces 10-Way Video Calling

  • Next stop online focus group?

LinkedIn announced new and improved moderation features for LinkedIn Groups

  • Does that smell like an easier, better, less expensive way to set up an online community?

  • What do you think of these announcements?

  • Are you concerned?

I look forward to reading your comments.

Are You Ready For Some Football? Join The Week 5 Merrill Dubrow Blog Football Pool

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Another amazing week! The only upset I really picked was the Giants beating the Bears. This week was VERY tough with lots of upsets. The Broncos, Rams, Jaguars, Browns and Redskins all had big upsets! With one game to go we have a three way tie between Jessica Cons, Paola and Mike Perdue. All three have 11 wins and the winner this week will come down to the tiebreaker.

Reminder we have added a few things for you to follow along and enjoy the fun. We have an updated leader board located on the right side of the main page of the blog that updates every 30 minutes during the games and within that page you can see the results from the prior weeks.

Here is a link to see the scoreboard.

The fourth week we had 155 participants so the winner this week will receive $75. Remember the weekly winners will be given a spot in the grand prize pool which will be in week 17. That person will join Sarah Baird, Jacob Adler and last week’s winner Jennifer Acosta for bragging rights for the next 6 months.

Here is a link for you to do this week’s picks.

Feel free to share the link and have friends, colleagues, relatives, kids and anyone else you want join the pool.

Good luck to all.

Isn’t It All About Attitude?

Friday, October 1st, 2010

There are days that all of us are so, so busy! You have client, friend, co-worker and significant other requests that just don’t stop. You feel like you take care of seven things and six more appear.

  • How do you get thru it?

Please watch this video and see what this person does.

I must admit I love that video!

I am sure all of us try and be upbeat and positive no matter what is going on but sometimes it can be really hard.

  • What do you do to stay positive?

  • How often are you in a bad mood?

  • How do you snap out of it

  • What do you say to your friends or co-workers to snap them out of a bad mood?

I look forward to reading your comments.
