Watch or no Watch That is Today’s Question!

Wednesday, April 6th, 2016

With a Fitbit on my right wrist 24/7 do I really need a watch on my left wrist? Before I answer that question – I have worn a watch for as far back as I can remember, at least 40+ years. I am specific of the watch I like, which tends to be simple, no numbers, light weight, and not too expensive.

Recently I have thought about forgetting the watch and going with just a Fitbit. I have tested this a few times and actually like it. Most of my watches don’t have a lot of features so I don’t think I will be missing anything.

Maybe I will wear a watch when I go to an important event but for everyday use, I think I am going to move ahead without it.

So I say bye bye watch! I hope you will be comfortable in my sock drawer!

  • Have you been at a similar crossroad?
  • Do you wear a watch every day?
  • Is your watch more of a fashion statement?

I look forward to reading your comments.

Ok Boca Raton Regional Hospital – that’s pretty creative….

Monday, April 4th, 2016

Unfortunately over the last few weeks my dad’s health is really failing and he is back in the hospital. One of the things he has is dementia and that, paired with a number of other things, causes him to be confused, agitated, and restless and all of that adds up to him wanting to pull out his IV among other things. I was wondering – and then I asked what the nurses and doctors had planned? I knew restraining his arms would be a possibility and seriously considered but this hospital came up with a different solution.

They put boxing gloves on him. Ok, not actually boxing gloves you step into the ring and fight with, but very soft and gentle oversized gloves that will prevent him from taking anything out and if he decides to hit anyone it should take care of that issue as well.

So Boca Raton Regional Hospital I give you an A for creativity.

  • What other creative solutions have you seen hospitals come up with?
  • What do you think of the boxing gloves idea?

Moving….? It looks like Texas is the place to be!

Friday, April 1st, 2016

Recently, I have been having a number of discussions with my friends and son regarding the United States population and where people are living and moving too. In addition, I believe Dallas, Texas, which is an amazing place to live, will change and be challenging in say 10 years. My reasoning is because the info structure might not be able to handle the increase in population.

I was curious where people were moving to and if my thoughts were backed up by facts and guess what – they were!

The current chart lists the Top 50 Cities in the U.S. by Population and Rank. Click Here to see the full list.

I was a little surprised to see how prominent the state of Texas was on the list. Did you know:

  • That three of the top nine cities by population are in Texas
  • As well as six out of the top nineteen are in Texas. While each of those cities are bigger than Seattle, Denver, Boston, and Nashville to name a few.

I converted the chart to excel, added a column and formula to see what cities had the greatest population growth since 1990 and here is what I saw:

  • Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland & New Orleans didn’t grow at all. In fact, they now have less people than they did 24 years ago.
  • Las Vegas grew the most 237%, followed by Louisville 224%, and Charlotte at 204%.
  • Four of the top ten growth cities are in Texas. They are Austin, Ft Worth, San Antonio, and Arlington.
  • Every single city in Texas grew by at least 27%.

So I ask you… when are you moving to the great state of Texas!

  • What do you think about the trends based on the chart?
  • What surprised you?

I look forward to reading your comments.

P.S. Please call if you end up moving here or want some additional information!!
